Placement of leaves varies in different copies. If the dedication to George Berkeley is placed after the title page, they can be interpreted as gathering [*]².
Pages 79-80, fourth group, and 583-584 are repeated in the pagination.
Madan in his Early Oxford press, p. 137 mentions two leaves of verses wanting after title page. Cf. also Camb. hist. v. 4, p. 505; Pickering Chatto-Book lovers' leaflet no. 210, p. 247.
LC copy imperfect? Signature *², containing verse describing title, page wanting?
Reynolds Library copy has the two leaves of verses following the title page mentioned by Madan (gathering **²).
